Watson-Marlow Bredel and Kalic delight at Bryn Cowlyd

Hyder Utilities' prestigious new Bryn Cowlyd Water Treatment Works in the Conwy Valley, North Wales is the latest of many major water treatment projects to adopt Kalic, a high chemical purity, 18% calcium hydroxide suspension from Buxton Lime Industries, which is dosed into the pressure ains at Bryn Cowlyd by two Watson Marlow Bredel hose pumps for pH adjustment and alkalinity control.

Nick Jones, Production Manager at Bryn Cowlyd is delighted. "We've been impressed by the reliability of the system, particularly the Watson-Marlow Bredel pumps which have operated without problems at very high pressures."

Bryn Cowlyd supplies up to 45 megalitre/day of potable water to a large part of coastal North Wales. Using as a water source a high-quality impounding reservoir high in the Snowdonia National Park, water is supplied to the treatment works and ultimately to customers, entirely by gravity without the need for pumping.
