Arkle Print with 90 employees is an entirely Heidelberg house with three Speedmaster presses in both B2 and B1 format and has become the first print company to benefit from the collaboration between Heidelberg UK and Watson-Marlow Bredel Pumps. The 704U/R/RX will now be available to all new Heidelberg 74 and 102 Speedmaster/CD presses and as a plug-in retrofit. Paul Knighton, works manager at Arkle, says: "We're an all Heidelberg house so when we decided to upgrade our entire printing equipment I knew which press we wanted but I needed to evaluate potential pump suppliers and their product ranges. Some of the corporate colours we were printing had a tendency to "rub" so I gained recommendations from other printers to find out their operational experience." "The consensus was that, for coating applications, the ideal pump was the Watson-Marlow Bredel 700 series twin-channel pump." So, when Arkle Print ordered a six-colour Speedmaster with coating unit, the 700 series pump was written into the specification. The unit is fed directly from 125kg drums and the twin-channel pumphead ensures that the feed and return ratio is maintained at all times. There is no risk of clogging or blockage, pump performance does not suffer due to pressure or viscosity variations, and cleaning is quick and simple. |
