Bayer uses Watson-Marlow Bredel pumps in seed mills throughout Britain, and now has over 200 pumps in use. After internal trials of the new 620 series pumps and LoadSure elements, Bayer has started to introduce them into operation. Jim Donald, engineer, Bayer comments: "The new pump design and LoadSure elements from Watson-Marlow Bredel are great - it's extremely easy to understand, calibrate and adjust; and the operation for cleaning is so quick and easy. "The pump offers us a high degree of consistency and accuracy, and highest uptime." The Watson-Marlow Bredel peristaltic pump applies agri-chemical to seed. This is very controlled and exact, and needs an extremely small volume of chemical to be evenly applied on the seed - 1.5 ml per kilo of seed i.e. in 50 kilo drops. The pumps apply Raxil-S to barley, Sibutol to wheat and Baytan to both, as well as to oilseed rape and linseed. They also coat peas and beans out of season. The pumps coat different seeds depending on the season so the pumps are running virtually 24 hours a day in the summer in England and in the spring in Scotland. |
