Our Purchasing function ensures the timely and cost effective supply of components and tooling into production and continual improvement of supplier performance.

Do you have the skills, knowledge and experience to succeed in the following four areas?

Sourcing analysis-

Market and supplier base analysis and identifying trends/risks.

Champion requirements of supply as member of new product design team.

Supply/value stream and vulnerability analysis.

Regulatory effects and environmental impacts.

Demand planning-

Inventory policy and procurement planning.

Co-ordinate supply with master scheduling/planning and production activity.

Prepare and maintain supply contingency plans.

Ensure supply needs are accurately specified.

Work with our Materials Controller to manage product/component lifecycle.

Pre-contract preparation-

Determine supplier capacity, financial standing and vulnerability.

Evaluate supplier policies, quality control and attitudes.

Invite offers, negotiate terms and conditions of contract, including exit clauses.

Agree service levels, descriptions and schedules.

Post-contract management-

Manage and develop supplier relationships, providing feedback from users/suppliers.

Monitor and rate supplier performance using post-contract reviews, aiming for continual improvement to costs, service levels and performance.

Disseminate knowledge and experience throughout the Purchasing/Planning function.

The successful applicant is likely to be CIPS qualified with a background in an engineering related manufacturing environment. Contract negotiation, project management and computer literacy are prerequisite skills. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate effective communication and time management skills and a methodical working style.

Working from home (ideally Cambridge/Huntingdon based) you will have a systematic and disciplined approach to serving established customers and adding new customers.

Educated to at least HND level in an engineering or science discipline, you will hold a valid UK driving licence and be a competent keyboard user with experience of working with Microsoft Excel and CRM software.

Knowledge of the positive displacement pump market would be an advantage, as would sales experience in the process industries, but neither is essential. We are grounded in providing induction and ongoing product and sales training.
